WEC International USA | Pathways - Training and Mentoring Professionals and Business People Interested in Missions While They are on the Job

Missions of the Future

We believe that God is raising up a new generation of tent-makers and church planters as a means of fulfilling the Great Commission. Here at WEC, we want to mentor these Tent-makers so that they can be faithful and obedient to their God-given calling. Pathways is WEC’s new training program, dedicated to mentoring professionals and business people interested in missions while they are on the job.

What does this mean? It means that many new missionaries will be teachers, professors, engineers, computer techs, construction workers, and managers. They will not be seen as a menace to their hosting culture but as allies. They will have open doors where a traditional missionary would never be able to enter.

Pathways - Business and Missions

Pathways can help you discover how to combine your profession with missions and help complete the Great Commission in this generation!

For Tentmakers

Do you have a passion for your profession and do you want to combine it with your calling as a Christian? Tent-making might be for you.

Tent-making provides many advantages.

  • A solid identity in the host culture
  • Natural bridges to friendships
  • Easier culture penetration
  • Less financial stress

It also provides many challenges. Our training will prepare you to meet those challenges with confidence.

For Business People

Today, gospel-oriented, free-market businesses are exploding worldwide as part of a growing movement to generate both temporal and eternal riches. BAM (Business As Mission) practitioners use business ventures not only to make a financial profit, but to act as an avenue for the gospel. They administer their companies like any Christian running a business: ethically, honestly, and with concern for the business’s neighbors. Yes, they exist to provide jobs and services and to make profits. But BAM companies are more than examples of Christian capitalism. The business itself is a means to spread the gospel and to plant churches. BAM companies increasingly have a global flavor, creating jobs in developing countries (unlike traditional aid or missions work) and making disciples who carry the gospel to the larger, hard-to-reach community.
